Support Engineer, U.S. Government Support
GitLab
This is a hands-on technical support role for IT Support Group readers who enjoy troubleshooting Linux systems, DevOps platforms, and complex customer environments. You would help U.S. government and public-sector teams operate GitLab in secure, compliance-focused, air-gapped, and otherwise constrained deployments.
What you would work on:
- Diagnose GitLab deployment issues with Linux command-line tools, logs, system-performance data, and application behavior.
- Trace problems across infrastructure, application, and code paths, then recommend mitigations and durable fixes.
- Partner with Product, Development, and Infrastructure teams to reproduce edge cases and resolve customer-impacting defects.
- Improve technical documentation, support workflows, automation, and troubleshooting utilities.
- Participate in weekday and weekend on-call rotations for self-managed customers in restricted environments.
Good fit if:
- You are a U.S. citizen, as required for the government environments supported by this team.
- You have managed customer cases from triage and reproduction through escalation and resolution.
- You have strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills.
- You are comfortable with Git, CI/CD, scripting such as Ruby or Bash, and DevOps or container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- You can explain complex technical issues clearly and understand security or compliance controls such as DISA STIG and SELinux.
